Keeping biological and chemical samples secure
Cambridgeshire based product development company 42 Technology has recently designed and developed a series of products for laboratory equipment suppliers Camlab to help in the battle to prevent sometimes expensive, rare or confidential samples being tampered with.
The application of 1.5ml microtubes in laboratories has been proven over several decades and spans most science disciplines within research and industry. However, sample security has not been a major feature or consideration in microtube design until now. The SSK (Secure Sample Keeper) microtube, developed by 42 Technology, with its patent protected push fit, tamper evident cap, provides the solution for applications where added security and safety is required. It is ideally suited to long term storage and transportation. In routine use, once the tamper evident seal is broken, the SSK microtube becomes a conventional tube for repetitive, single handed opening and closing.
42 Technology also designed a storage system for the SSK tubes. This small footprint, modular rack system is suitable for microtubes up to 12mm in diameter which can be stored on the racks provided.
Camlab Managing Director, Roy Taylor, is delighted with the products: "Nick Campling and his team at 42 Technology have provided us with excellent products, which are unique in the marketplace and more than live up to the brief which they were given. The close working relationship between Camlab and 42 Technology has produced outstanding results." |
