42 Technology takes E.A.T. ice cream into the Premier League
With fans of Celtic, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Charlton Athletic already enjoying branded ice cream in the shape and colour of their club’s badge, and with three more premiership clubs due to launch similar products before Christmas 2003, Cambridgeshire based development company 42 Technology can justly claim to have partnered E.A.T. (Extrusion Advanced Technology) Limited into the ‘premier league’.
When E.A.T. first approached 42 Technology, it had already wasted valuable time with an inexperienced development house. A fast track development programme was needed if this innovative new concept in product branding was going to become a reality, and 42 Technology’s engineers’ technical expertise underpinned E.A.T.’s development work leading to a successful launch for the first product – Celtic FC ice cream- in June 2003.
This new dimension in branding allows logos and images to be set into food products such as cheese, processed meat and ice cream during manufacture, offering the FMCG sector a range of exciting new marketing opportunities. In each case 42 Technology produces the tooling design using Pro/Engineer CAD software, generating files which enable development tooling manufacture to take place using rapid prototype techniques. The final tooling uses food grade approved plastic or stainless steel lost wax investment casting, dependent on the complexity of the shapes involved.
42 Technology Managing Director Nick Campling is confident that the company will have a vast range of individual projects from E.A.T. during 2004 saying:
“ David Nelson and his team at E.A.T. are generating huge international interest in this product branding technology, and we are gearing up to support their rapidly growing operation. I anticipate a growing number of tooling development projects for a wide variety of branded food products over the coming 12/18 months as a result of our work with E.A.T."
