Howard Biddle

Howard Biddle - Managing Director

Howard’s specialises in managing the product creation process and helping clients to be more innovative. Whilst at 42 his work has ranged from technology strategy assignments for multinational companies to overseeing product developments in the areas of clean/green technology, dispense technology, and medical devices.

Prior to 42 Technology, Howard was at Cambridge Consultants Ltd where he started as a junior engineer rising to Managing Director. Howard spearheaded CCL’s move into commercial product design and development and oversaw the spin-off of a number of businesses, including Cambridge Silicon Radio, Inca Digital, the drug delivery arm of Vectura and Alphamosaic.

Howard is a member of the advisory board of Qi3 Ltd, a technology marketing company in Cambridge.

He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen Mary College, London and a Masters in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art.

Dave Wilson

Dave Wilson – Director

Dave’s area of expertise is in the development of innovative, mechatronic products. Whilst at 42 Technology he has been responsible for the development of a number of clean/green technology and sensor and instrumentation products.

Before joining 42T Dave held a number of technical and marketing roles where he gained broad experience in business development, technology strategy and licensing and product creation from concept to production.

At Cambridge Consultants Ltd he was Bluetooth product manager and business development manager in Industrial, Automotive and Consumer, Sensor based products.

At Renishaw plc Dave became head of technology development leading a large multi-disciplinary team in the UK and France devising strategy and developing innovative products. In this and previous roles in STC and Marconi Research his technical achievements were focussed on sensor based products and resulted in many patents.

Dave has a PhD in Physics and a 1st class honours degree from Newcastle University.

Dr John Loveluck

Dr John Loveluck – Head of Operations and Quality

John specialises in the development of medical devices and drug delivery systems and in the provision of engineering and regulatory support to biotech companies. He has consulted on the regulatory approval of a number of drug delivery devices.

Before joining 42 Technology, John spent 10 years working in the medical device industry, where he gained particular expertise in quality and regulatory affairs for medical devices distributed in the USA and Europe. Prior to that he held senior positions in manufacturing, quality and regulatory roles in a number of high technology companies.

He began his career in semiconductor processing and packaging with the Plessey Company before moving to the Michelin Tyre Company as an international quality manager, undertaking multi-site process control projects in manufacturing plants across Europe.

John holds a 1st class degree and PhD in physics from the University of Bristol, and is a fluent French speaker.

Dr John Wilkes

Dr John Wilkes – Head of Electronics and Physics

John specialises in the design and development of complex systems-based products. He has worked in many areas including: clean energy, industrial instrumentation, metering, medical products and in-vitro diagnostics.

Before joining 42, John was a senior consultant at Sagentia managing multi-disciplinary project teams. While at Sagentia, he managed many multi-disciplinary, high-value projects as well as contributing to the sales and marketing effort.

Before joining Sagentia he founded a product development company where he held the post of CEO for seven years.

John holds a 1st class degree and PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge. On leaving Cambridge he worked in the avionics and scientific instrumentation industries before founding his own company.

Advisors

Richard Archer

Richard Archer

Richard is a professional engineer and business entrepreneur with a wide range of experience in identifying and matching emerging markets with new technologies and establishing profitable and sustainable business enterprises to exploit them. Particular expertise in the arena of “industrialising” drug discovery and the creation of new markets for automated technology platforms with the top 10 pharmacos and major biotechs, and building a network of senior contacts across that industry in the US, Europe and Japan. Work in this arena has included creating major strategy papers on organisational and technology change for companies such as GSK (at merger), Aventis and Novartis. He has managed “soft “ to “hard” business transition to give substantial growth and profitability without significant external financing.

He has a 1st class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Manchester, and won the Fairbairn Engineering Award.

Adrian Swinburne

Adrian’s experience lies in the management of the product development process, from product definition through to manufacture and deployment, with particular emphasis on complex multi-disciplinary products and systems.

His work with 42 Technology is primarily focussed on developing new business, as well as assisting clients with their own product development activities.

Prior to joining 42 Technology he spent 7 years at Sagentia, where he progressed from working as a senior consultant in the Communications Technology Division through to running the UK consulting business unit. Before that he spent his career working in the field of wireless communications, ranging from military radio equipment to fleet management mobile data systems.

Adrian has an engineering degree from the University of Durham, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
