Heat Recovery

Our client manufactures a range of ventilation and heat recovery products. The heat recovery products remove stale, moist air, normally from ‘wet’ areas of a property and replace it with ‘fresh’, pre-warmed air. Their core technology was based on a unit with heat recovery plates made from thin plastic foil. The production assembly process was a very labour intensive process. 42 Technology’s project was to devise a novel design that was thermally efficient, simple and low-cost.

In the first phase of the project - through a series of workshops, mathematical modelling, prototyping and testing - an innovative heat recovery unit and fan arrangement was developed that met all the requirements. Testing demonstrated the feasibility of the design, performing well against the target specification.
