42 Technology helps UK pubs deliver the perfectly chilled pint!
42 Technology (42T) is taking a lead role in helping UK pubs and clubs to deliver the perfect pint as more brewers expand their range of super-chilled draught beers, lagers and ciders.
The product design and development consultancy has been appointed by UK brewing industry body Brands Dispense Association (BDA) to research and recommend a new set of standards to guide the development of future cooling and dispensing equipment. These standards will include extra-cold brands, which is one of the fastest growing sectors with an increasing number of brands being dispensed at 2 to 4º C in the glass or even cider.
The first phase of 42 Technology’s work will be to consult with the BDA to gain a better understanding of what systems are currently in place for either bar-based or cellar cooling and anticipated market trends. The consultancy will then work collaboratively with BDA member companies to develop next steps taking into account energy-efficiency, equipment performance, and the reliability and maintenance of cooling systems best suited to meet the future needs of the industry.
“42 Technology has considerable experience in cooling and dispensing systems, particularly within the food and drink sector, making them the natural choice for this important new initiative. Our aim is to develop a universal specification that can guide the development of the next generation of cooling systems.” said Iain Ramage, chairman of the BDA Technical committee.
“Everyone at 42 is delighted to have been appointed on such a high profile project. Extra cold is a young, fast growing market but with lots of proprietary, brand-specific systems. A systems approach will allow more brands to be delivered at the required specification across the UK and to help pubs and clubs deliver the perfectly chilled pint,” said Howard Biddle, managing director of 42T.
