Technology Roadmapping
A major manufacturer in the energy sector wanted to determine its corporate R&D plans regarding technology platforms, product rationalisation and brand positioning. We held as series of workshops, interviews and brainstorming sessions that formed the input to our structured approach. This determined key internal and external forces such as technology developments, manufacturing constraints, marketing vision and legislation that would shape the approach.
Further work with the key stakeholders then built a number of interrelated road maps for the market, products, technologies and platforms. These road maps enable buy in from all parties as well as determining priorities and plans for development in each of the areas. This work led to a significant rationalisation of the product range into brand specific attributes, a technology plan that focused R&D activities and a product platform approach that will deliver significant cost reductions. |
