The opportunity

We are a friendly company of ~40 employees working in a challenging and creative environment. We are looking for a high calibre mechanical manufacturing engineer with deep experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes and automation to help us continue our recent growth. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in the delivery of engineering projects; they will have a strong theoretical knowledge and practical approach to manufacturing challenges. They will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, technically excellent, business savvy and a strong communicator.


The role

Your core responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead project teams working on complex manufacturing / automation focused challenges
  • Create value for our clients through solving of complex technical problems to support the development of new products and processes
  • Help clients understand how to put novel concepts / products into production
  • Lead the technical negotiation of contract scope
  • Provide technical leadership on projects covering a wide range of applications

42 Technology has a very strong technical team with expertise in complex electromechanical, thermal, and fluidic analysis and connected devices (IoT). Candidates must bring a similar depth of experience and strength in their technical domain, with breadth and capability in related technical areas. They must be a persuasive and strong communicator with both the client and the internal project team.

About you

You will have:

  • A passion and talent for mechanical engineering and problem solving
  • A deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and automation gained outside of engineering consultancy
  • Experience of leading and managing work packages in engineering consultancy
  • A strong technical degree in engineering or physics from a well-reputed institution
  • Skills in creative problem solving, innovation, and challenging the boundaries of a problem
  • Engaging communication skills, being able to present technical subjects persuasively and negotiate with suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving licence, UK work permit / you are an EU national
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally

Ideally you will have:

  • 10+ years’ experience in professional services
  • Experience of running complex R&D or NPI projects
  • Practical engineering experience in machining, assembly, or prototyping work
  • A keen interest in promoting the company, developing client accounts and broadening your industry-specific experience
